One of the largest mosques in Europe, rebuilt in 2005 on the site of a legendary 16th-century mosque destroyed by Ivan the Terrible. The stunning blue-domed structure holds 6,000 worshippers. Interior features Turkish ceramics, Iranian carpets, and Ural marble.
Metro: Kremlyovskaya station (blue line), exit to Kremlin. The mosque is inside Kazan Kremlin. Buses: 6, 15, 29, 35, 35a, 37, 47 to Central Stadium or Baturina stop. Trolleybuses: 1, 4 to Central Stadium stop. By taxi to the main Kremlin entrance. Entry to Kremlin is free, mosque visit is free.

Useful tips for visiting Qol Sharif Mosque
Free entry, donations welcome. Remove shoes, women need to cover head (scarves provided at entrance). Best photos at sunset — domes beautifully lit. During Friday prayers tourist access limited.
