Located at Santorini's highest point (567m), the monastery was founded in 1711 and offers panoramic views of the entire island. Houses a rare collection of Byzantine icons, manuscripts, and ecclesiastical artifacts. The bell tower and surrounding chapels are particularly beautiful.
Free entry. Donations welcome. Modest dress required (shoulders and knees covered).
Morning for clearest views (before afternoon haze). Combine with Pyrgos village 3km below. Sunset can be spectacular but check if monastery is open. Evening vespers 5-6:30 PM.
