Praca da Republica
Praca da Republica, often called the Arcada, is the beating heart of Braga - a lively and elegant square that perfectly captures the spirit of this northern Portuguese city. Dating back to medieval times when it served as a market square, it was transformed in the 18th century with neoclassical arcaded buildings. The iconic Vianna Fountain from 1773 features four marble figures representing Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation. Historic cafes like Cafe Vianna (1858) and Cafe Astoria (1928) have hosted generations of artists and intellectuals.
