Poznań Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Poznan is the oldest cathedral in Poland, dating back to the 10th century when the first Polish ruler Mieszko I was baptized here. The Gothic cathedral houses the Golden Chapel behind the high altar containing the mausoleums of Poland's first rulers, and crypts revealing remains of the original pre-Romanesque church from the 10th century. Destroyed and rebuilt multiple times over its thousand-year history, it stands as the birthplace of Christianity in Poland and a symbol of Polish statehood
