Pointe du Hoc
Pointe du Hoc is a dramatic clifftop promontory between Omaha and Utah beaches. On D-Day, 225 US Army Rangers scaled these 30-meter cliffs under enemy fire to destroy German gun positions. The lunar-like landscape of bomb craters, tunnels, and destroyed bunkers remains preserved exactly as the bombardment left it. Managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission, this is one of the most evocative WWII sites, offering powerful testament to the Rangers' extraordinary courage.
