Plaza de Armas Arequipa
Plaza de Armas in Arequipa is the heart of the White City, surrounded by colonial buildings made of white volcanic sillar stone. The massive Arequipa Cathedral dominates one entire side of the square. Cafes and restaurants under the arcades offer plaza views with Misti volcano as a backdrop. The historic center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. The square features a bronze fountain and is the city's main gathering place.
