Playacar is a calm and beautiful beach stretching about 5 km south of the pier. Located in front of an upscale residential community and luxury resorts, but the beach itself is public and accessible by walking along the shore from downtown.
Beach is public by Mexican law. Access through mall at ferry pier, or walk along beach from town. Some resorts offer chairs/umbrellas for a fee
Any time of day is good. Less crowded than central beaches. Great for long morning walks along the shore. Sargasso season (April-July) may affect beach quality
