Phimeanakas
Phimeanakas, meaning 'Celestial Palace,' is a 10th-century Hindu temple located within the Royal Palace compound in Angkor Thom. Built under King Rajendravarman and later rebuilt by Suryavarman I. According to legend, the king had to sleep here every night with a naga (serpent) who transformed into a woman. The three-tiered pyramid was once covered in gold. Visitors can still climb to the top via steep stairs for views over the palace grounds and surrounding forest.
