Pechersky Ascension Monastery
Founded in 1328-1330 by Saint Dionysius of Suzdal, this is the principal monastery of the Nizhny Novgorod Eparchy. The current ensemble dates to the 17th century and includes the Ascension Cathedral from 1631, the Church of St. Evfimy of Suzdal, a bell tower, monks cells, and fortress walls. It has housed the Museum of the History of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese since 2003. Located on the picturesque Volga bank with panoramic river views. Free admission with daily opening hours. The on-site museum is open 10:00-18:00 except Mondays
