Omaha Beach
Omaha Beach is one of the most significant D-Day landing sites from June 6, 1944. This 8-kilometer stretch of coastline witnessed the bloodiest fighting of the Normandy invasion, where American soldiers from the 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions faced fierce German resistance, resulting in over 2,000 casualties. Today the beach serves as an open-air memorial with museums, monuments, and preserved bunkers commemorating the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for Europe's liberation.
