Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec)
Old Quebec is the only walled city north of Mexico and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Founded in 1608, it is the cradle of French civilization in North America. The district divides into Upper Town (Haute-Ville) around Château Frontenac and Lower Town (Basse-Ville) along the waterfront. Cobblestone streets, 17th-18th century buildings, and historic churches create a European atmosphere. Key sites include Place Royale where Champlain founded the French settlement, the charming Petit-Champlain district, and Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church.
