Oberbaum Bridge
The Oberbaum Bridge is a double-deck bridge connecting Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, and one of Berlin's most beautiful landmarks. Built in the 1890s in North German Brick Gothic style with distinctive towers, it was partially destroyed in WWII and fully restored after reunification. The upper level carries the U1 metro line while the lower level is used by pedestrians, cyclists, and cars. During Berlin's division it served as a border crossing checkpoint, and today symbolizes the city's reunification.
