Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls isn't one waterfall, but three: Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls on the American side. Together they form North America's most powerful waterfall: over 2,800 cubic meters of water pour over the edge every second.
Canadian Side
Best views of the falls. Table Rock—viewing platform right at Horseshoe's edge. Journey Behind the Falls—tunnels behind the waterfall where you stand inside the water wall. Hornblower Cruises—boat approaches as close as possible to Horseshoe.
American Side
Maid of the Mist—legendary blue boats since 1846. Cave of the Winds—wooden platform at Bridal Veil's base where you're literally inside the waterfall. Goat Island between the falls for walking.
Niagara at Night
After sunset, the falls are illuminated by powerful spotlights—red, blue, green. On Sundays, Wednesdays, and holidays in summer—fireworks over the falls.
Practical Information
From Toronto 1.5 hours, from New York 7 hours or fly to Buffalo. Between Canadian and American sides—Rainbow Bridge, passport and visas for both countries required. Minimum one day for one side, two days for both.
Around the Falls
Niagara-on-the-Lake—wineries and icewine. Whirlpool—below the falls, Aero Car above it since 1916. Buffalo—Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and buffalo wings at Anchor Bar.
