Neak Pean
Neak Pean, meaning "the entwined serpents", is a unique Buddhist temple located on an artificial circular island in the center of the ancient Jayatataka reservoir. Built by King Jayavarman VII in the 12th century as a symbolic hospital, bathing in the temple pools was believed to cure illnesses. The central temple is surrounded by four smaller pools representing the four elements, and features a statue of the mythical horse Balaha rescuing shipwrecked merchants
