Nazca Lines
The Nazca Lines are giant geoglyphs etched into the Nazca desert between 500-200 BC by the ancient Nazca culture. The drawings span 450 square kilometers and depict animals and geometric shapes that can only be fully seen from the air. The most famous include the hummingbird, spider, monkey, and condor. The reason for their creation remains mysterious - possibly religious or astronomical. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. Best viewed by small aircraft flights from Nazca airport.
