Nagasaki Peace Park
Nagasaki Peace Park is a moving memorial dedicated to the victims of the atomic bomb dropped on August 9, 1945. The park is dominated by the iconic 10-meter tall Peace Statue created by sculptor Seibo Kitamura, with its right hand pointing skyward warning of nuclear threat while the extended left hand symbolizes peace. The park features the Peace Fountain and sculptures donated by countries worldwide, embodying humanity's universal desire for peace. Overlooking the hypocenter area, it invites quiet reflection on the tragedy and hope for a nuclear-free future. Nagasaki was selected among the New York Times' 52 best places to visit in 2026.
