Évora Museum
The Évora National Museum, officially the Museu Nacional Frei Manuel do Cenáculo, occupies the former Episcopal Palace adjacent to the Roman Temple. Founded in 1915, it houses a rich collection of religious art, Roman sculptures, stunning azulejo tiles, and prehistoric artifacts from the Alentejo region. Highlights include a Roman Venus statue, paintings by 15th-16th century Portuguese masters, and an impressive collection of medieval religious sculptures. The building itself, with its arcaded courtyard and grand staircase, provides a wonderful architectural experience. The museum offers insight into the region's history spanning millennia.
