Mount Arafat
Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal al-Rahmah (Mountain of Mercy), is a granite hill on the Plain of Arafat approximately 20 km southeast of Mecca. The Day of Arafat (9th Dhul Hijjah) is the most important day of Hajj, when pilgrims stand from noon until sunset in prayer and supplication. Here Prophet Muhammad delivered his famous Farewell Sermon. The plain is equipped with facilities for pilgrims including tents, restrooms, and water. Standing at Arafat is considered the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage.
