Monastery of Tibaes
The Monastery of Tibaes is the largest Benedictine monastery in Portugal, founded in the 6th century and reaching its peak grandeur in the 17th-18th centuries as the motherhouse of the Benedictine Congregation. The church features an impressive Baroque organ and gilded woodwork. The complex includes a museum with sacred art and archaeological findings, historic gardens with over 50 plant species, and the Cerca monastic forest. Guided tours available.
