Morteratsch Glacier
Switzerland's most accessible glacier with a flat, easy walking trail from Morteratsch train station. The 3km round-trip path leads through a beautiful valley with signs marking the glacier's retreat since 1878, offering a vivid lesson on climate change. Views of the massive ice tongue and peaks of Piz Bernina and Piz Palu. Since May 2024, direct access to the ice is prohibited for safety reasons due to rockfall risks, but the view remains stunning from the designated viewpoint. Stroller-friendly trail makes it perfect for families. The glacier has retreated over 3km since measurements began.
