Markt Square
Markt Square forms the vibrant heart of historic Bruges, surrounded by medieval buildings featuring stunning colorful gabled facades. The square is dominated by the iconic Belfry tower and 13th-century market halls. Once a bustling commercial hub where merchants traded cloth and spices, today the square hosts cafes and restaurants with outdoor terraces, along with seasonal events including an enchanting Christmas market. The statue of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck at its center commemorates Flemish resistance heroes. Horse-drawn carriages depart from here, offering romantic tours through the medieval streets.
