Manpupuner Rock Formations
Manpupuner, meaning 'little mountain of idols' in Mansi language, is a group of seven gigantic rock pillars rising 30-42 meters above a remote Ural plateau. These mysterious stone statues were formed by 200 million years of erosion and are considered one of the Seven Wonders of Russia. Access is extremely challenging — requiring either helicopter flight or 40 km trek through wild taiga. Visitors are limited to 4,500 per year.
