Mandela House Museum
Mandela House Museum is the historic home where Nelson Mandela and his family lived from 1946 to 1962, before his 27-year imprisonment. Located on the famous Vilakazi Street in Soweto, the only street in the world where two Nobel Peace Prize laureates have lived (Mandela and Desmond Tutu). The museum contains personal family belongings, photographs, original furniture, and historical documents. The modest four-room matchbox house tells the story of Mandela's struggle against apartheid. You can still see bullet holes from the 1988 attack on the house. The museum became cashless from December 2025, accepting only card payments.
