Makkah Library - Birthplace of Prophet
Makkah Library stands on the site believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad in the Shi'b Bani Hashim quarter. The location was the house of his father Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib. The site was converted to a mosque in the 2nd century Hijri, demolished in 1924, and established as a library in 1953. The library houses a valuable collection of Islamic manuscripts, rare newspapers, and periodicals totaling approximately 1,200 manuscripts focused on fiqh and hadith studies.
