Lyabi-Hauz
Lyabi-Hauz is the most enchanting plaza in Bukhara, built in 1620 around a historic pool measuring 46 by 36 meters. The name means 'around the pool' in Persian. Ancient mulberry trees shade the plaza where locals gather to play chess, drink tea, and smoke shisha. Three historic monuments surround the plaza: Kukeldash Madrasah, Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah, and Nadir Divan-Begi Khanaka. Restaurants and cafes along the poolside serve kebabs and traditional dishes. A bronze statue of Hodja Nasreddin with his donkey welcomes visitors to this timeless gathering place.
