Living Root Bridges are engineering marvels created by Khasi and Jaintia tribes from aerial roots of rubber fig trees. The famous double-decker bridge at Nongriat is over 200 years old. These bridges are 'grown' not built, and become stronger with time. Over 240 exist across Meghalaya.
