Lim Fjord
Lim Fjord, locally known as Limski Kanal, is a 12-kilometer submerged valley cutting into the heart of the Istrian peninsula with rock walls rising up to 200 meters. Despite its name it is not a glacial fjord but a drowned karst river valley. The calm protected waters make it ideal for oyster and mussel farming, which visitors can taste fresh from local farms. It can be visited by boat tours from Rovinj or Vrsar harbors lasting two to four hours, or from the panoramic viewpoint on the road between the two towns. Two famous waterside restaurants — Viking and Fjord — serve freshly caught seafood. The 1950s Kirk Douglas film 'The Vikings' was partially shot here.
