Banana-shaped Lake Zurich is the heart of the city and a beloved recreation area. Surrounding the bottom of the lake is a tangle of parks and gardens known as the lake promenade, making for a picturesque place to spend an afternoon. When the weather is warm, the lake is peppered with boats and its banks are filled with picnickers and sunbathers. The area is also one of Zürchers' favorite places to jog. You can enjoy a 90-minute boat cruise from Bürkliplatz or rent pedal boats in summer. The promenade connects Bürkliplatz to Zürichhorn passing by the Chinese Garden. Several public swimming areas on both shores offer free swimming in summer.
