Lake Chuzenji is Japan's highest natural lake at 1,269 meters elevation, formed when lava flows from Mount Nantai dammed a river approximately 20,000 years ago. Scenic cruises of approximately 55 minutes offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The undeveloped forests change with seasons from spring azaleas to spectacular autumn foliage.
