Iconic alpine lake at 2,352 m in the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve. One of the most famous hikes in the French Alps with stunning reflections of the Mont Blanc massif. Part of the famous Tour du Mont Blanc trail. Swimming prohibited to preserve the ecosystem.

No, swimming is prohibited by prefectoral decree to preserve the lake's ecosystem. The water temperature is also extremely cold (around 8°C even in summer).
