Kyushu National Museum
Kyushu National Museum, opened in 2005, is Japan's fourth national museum after Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara. Set on the hill above Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, the museum focuses on the history of cultural exchange between Asia and Japan through thousands of historical artifacts and National Treasures dating back millennia. The stunning modern building with its curved glass design is an architectural masterpiece itself. The free interactive 'Ajippa' exhibit lets families experience colors, shapes, patterns, and smells from different Asian countries. Photography allowed in the permanent exhibition.
