Kuranda Scenic Railway
The Kuranda Scenic Railway is an enchanting journey through ancient World Heritage rainforest. The historic train climbs from Cairns to the mountain village of Kuranda through 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 bridges, passing the spectacular Barron Falls and Stoney Creek Falls. Built in the 1880s by Irish laborers, the line is an engineering marvel carved through rugged mountain terrain. The journey takes approximately two hours with a photo stop at Barron Falls.
