Kolossi Castle
Kolossi Castle is a medieval fortress tower that served as the headquarters of the Knights of St. John (Knights Hospitaller). The current tower, dating from 1454, stands 21 meters tall with three floors and walls up to 2.75 meters thick. The Knights operated famous sugar cane plantations here and produced the sweet Commandaria wine that is still made in Cyprus today. From the top of the tower, you can enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding area including the sugar factory ruins. A coat of arms of the Grand Commander is carved above the entrance.
