Königstraße (King's Street)
Königstraße is Stuttgart's premier shopping boulevard and one of Germany's longest pedestrian streets, stretching 1.2 kilometers from the main railway station to Schlossplatz. Named after King Wilhelm I of Württemberg, this elegant promenade has been the city's commercial heart since the 19th century. The street features a harmonious mix of historic architecture and modern buildings, lined with flagship stores of international brands, German department stores like Breuninger and Galeria Kaufhof, boutiques, and cafes. The lower section near Hauptbahnhof is more modern, while the upper part near Schlossplatz retains historic charm with buildings dating to the post-war reconstruction. It's a vibrant hub for shopping, people-watching, and experiencing Stuttgart's urban life.
