Königsplatz
Königsplatz is a majestic square in Munich surrounded by neoclassical buildings resembling ancient Greek temples. Designed in the 19th century by King Ludwig I to be 'Athens on the Isar', it features the Glyptothek museum of ancient sculpture and the State Collection of Antiquities with Greek and Roman art. The square also has a somber history as a Nazi rally ground, now commemorated by the NS Documentation Center nearby. Free to walk around, museum entry fees apply.
