Klis Fortress
Klis Fortress is a majestic stronghold perched atop a 385-meter cliff northeast of Split. It gained worldwide fame as the filming location for the city of Meereen in Game of Thrones. The fortress history spans over two thousand years as a Roman, Croatian, Ottoman, and Venetian bastion. Its most celebrated chapter is the heroic Croatian resistance against Ottoman expansion in the 15th and 16th centuries. Panoramic views from the fortress walls encompass Split, the surrounding mountains, islands, and the Adriatic Sea. The ticket includes the fortress itself, an interpretation centre, the Stella Croatica ethno park, and an olive museum, making it a comprehensive half-day experience
