The Khufu Boats Museum at the Grand Egyptian Museum displays the 4,500-year-old funerary boats of Pharaoh Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid. The first fully restored boat was relocated from the Giza Plateau to the new museum in 2021, while the second boat is being assembled in front of visitors in a unique live restoration process. These massive cedar wood vessels were built to carry the pharaoh on his eternal journey with the sun god Ra.
