Kazimierz
Kazimierz is the historic Jewish quarter of Krakow and today one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods. An independent town until 1791, it hosted one of the most important Jewish communities in Europe. Seven historic synagogues survive, including the Old Synagogue, the oldest in Poland now serving as a museum, and the still-active Remuh Synagogue with its historic cemetery. After decades of neglect, the district has transformed into a hub for nightlife, cafes, and art galleries while preserving its historical character. The small Plac Nowy square is famous for zapiekanka, Krakow's most beloved street food. The annual Jewish Culture Festival turns the neighborhood into an open-air stage
