Jesuit Church
The Jesuitenkirche stands as a baroque masterpiece in the heart of the Old Town near the university. Built between 1712 and 1759, it is Heidelberg's largest and most important Catholic church. The red sandstone exterior contrasts dramatically with the bright white interior featuring gold accents — the result of 1950s renovation that gave the church its unique appearance. The neo-baroque tower was added 150 years after original construction. The church houses a museum of sacred art and documentation about the history of the Jesuit order.
