Jannat al-Mu'alla Cemetery
Jannat al-Mu'alla is the holiest cemetery in Mecca and the second holiest in Islam after al-Baqi in Medina. It contains the graves of many relatives of Prophet Muhammad, including: Khadijah, his first wife; his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib; his uncle Abu Talib; and his son al-Qasim. The cemetery is located in the al-Hajun district and was formerly known as the Cemetery of al-Hajun. Muslims visit to pray for its inhabitants. The cemetery has been simplified with no elaborate structures over graves.
