Jallianwala Bagh
Jallianwala Bagh is a poignant memorial at the site of the 1919 massacre, where British General Dyer opened fire on a peaceful gathering, killing approximately 1,000-2,000 people including women and children. Bullet holes are still visible on the walls, and the historic well into which people jumped to escape bullets is preserved. This event changed the course of the Indian independence movement forever.
