Every October and November, the city transforms into a sea of purple when these South American native trees bloom. Best viewing streets include Herbert Baker Street and the suburbs of Brooklyn and Arcadia. The sight is especially magical when petals fall and carpet the sidewalks in purple, creating perfect photo opportunities.
