Ivolginsky Datsan
Ivolginsky Datsan is the main center of Buddhism in Russia and seat of the Hambo Lama, the spiritual leader of Russian Buddhists. The complex includes over 10 colorfully painted temples in traditional Tibetan style, a Buddhist institute, library, and museum. The main attraction is the mysteriously preserved body of Hambo Lama Itigelov (since 1927), displayed on special occasions.
