India Gate is a 42-meter tall war memorial dedicated to 82,000 Indian soldiers who died in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Designed by Edwin Lutyens and completed in 1931, it stands on Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath). The memorial is surrounded by manicured lawns and is beautifully illuminated at night with colorful fountain displays.
