Imperial Palace East Gardens
The Imperial Palace East Gardens are the only part of the inner palace grounds open to the public. Located on the former site of Edo Castle, the seat of the Tokugawa shoguns, the gardens feature remnants of stone walls, moats, and guard towers from the original fortress. The expansive gardens blend traditional Japanese landscaping with open lawns and include a small museum of imperial collections. This tranquil oasis offers a perfect escape from Tokyo's bustle, particularly beautiful during spring cherry blossoms and autumn foliage.
