Horyuji Temple
Horyuji Temple houses the world's oldest surviving wooden buildings and became Japan's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Founded by Prince Shotoku in 607 CE, the complex features the Golden Hall (Kondo) and Five-Story Pagoda dating to the 7th century. The treasure museum displays Buddhist artifacts including the famous Shaka Triad and Yumedono Kannon statues. Architecture demonstrates Chinese Tang Dynasty influences blended with Japanese construction techniques.
