Honolulu Zoo is the only zoo in the United States established by royal decree (Queen Kapiolani in 1876). Spanning 42 acres between Diamond Head and Waikiki, it houses over 900 species including Asian elephants, black rhinoceros, cheetahs, giraffes, and lions.
Adults $21, children (3-12) $13, under 2 free. Zoo parking $1.50/hour (4-hour max). Free parking at Waikiki Shell across the street on Monsarrat Ave.
Arrive at opening (10 AM) when animals are most active. Allow 2-3 hours. Saturday evening tours available (separate booking). Located next to Kapiolani Park - combine visits.
