Court Church (Hofkirche)
The Court Church is a Gothic church built in 1553 by Emperor Ferdinand I as a memorial to his grandfather Emperor Maximilian I. It houses one of the finest collections of German Renaissance sculpture: 28 larger-than-life bronze statues known as the 'Black Men' surround the magnificent cenotaph. Work on this project took an incredible 82 years. The church also contains the tomb of Andreas Hofer, Tyrol's national hero.
