Hazrati Imam Complex
Hazrati Imam Complex is the spiritual heart of Tashkent and an important Islamic center housing several mosques, madrasahs, and historic tombs. The highlight is the Muyi Muborak Madrasah containing a copy of the Quran believed to be one of the oldest in the world, dating to the 7th century and once belonging to Caliph Uthman. Timur brought it from Baghdad. The complex also includes the mausoleum of Sheikh Kaffal ash-Shashi and the new Tillashaykh Mosque with its stunning blue dome. The site is a center for Islamic education and receives scholars from around the world.
