The newest architectural jewel of Luang Prabang, Haw Pha Bang Temple was completed in 2006 to house the sacred Phra Bang statue - the Buddha image that the city is named after. The construction took 20 years of traditional craftsmanship, producing a masterpiece of gold, red, and green mosaics. It sits in the majestic Royal Palace grounds.
